  • Monday Morning Coffee Connection @ 10:30 a.m. – Every Week
Lonely?  Bored in the house?  Tired of reading or watching television?    
Come join this  virtual gathering, meet new folks and have lively conversations,
play a game or watch a video with Pat and a gang of “cool, fun and senior in body, but not in
mind kids’” every Monday Morning.  This is an informal event with no set topic or agenda.
Bring your coffee, tea or favorite morning drink and join us.
This event is geared to the older LGBT community, but the entire community and allies are always welcome.

Wednesday Mid-Afternoon Gathering @ 2:00 p.m. – Every Week
If you are still bored in the house or couldn’t make the Monday morning
meeting, come join us for this virtual afternoon meet new folks more lively

Hot Topics - Twice a month on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.
 This has been a very popular evening event.  We encourage the entire LGBT
community and our allies to join in on a lively but respectful discussion of the
hot topics of the day.

Senior Men’s Happy Hour - Once a month on Sundays @4:45 p.m.
Join your host Kurt for an informal get together without a scheduled or planned
topic of discussion. They have typically been lasting about an hour. We may not
be able to have monthly potlucks, but we can still find out how everyone is
surviving the current restrictions. So, grab a beverage of your choice and join
the conversation on Sunday afternoon.

Writers' Workshop Winter 2021 
Join our free four-week writing workshop, led by New York Times bestselling memoir author and
writing coach Ingrid Ricks. Ingrid will help you identify and structure the personal story you
need to tell, then teach you six proven narrative writing techniques to bring your story to life in vivid, compelling text.
 
Each session will include an optional 15-minute coaching session to ensure you get your story to the finish line.   
 
In this class, you will learn how to:  
  • Structure your story
  • Develop vivid characters  
  • Create effective dialogue  
  • Bring your thoughts and emotions to life 
  • Show rather than tell your story  
  • Write openings that grab readers' attention  
  • Create an active scene and setting 
Class Schedule & Format:
Frequency: Saturdays February 6, 13, 20, 27
Time:
  • February 6, 13, 20:
    • Group Workshop 10 am - 12 pm
    • Individual Sessions Scheduled between 12 - 4 pm
  • February 27:
    • Individual Sessions 11 am - 3 pm
    • Author Reading/Celebration 4 - 6 pm
Tacoma Older LGBT is thrilled to offer this writing class free of charge with our co-sponsor and partner Tacoma Rainbow  Center.   Maximum for this class is 15 people.   Send an email to patricia@tacomaolderlgbt.org  to register and attend this class or get on a waiting list if class becomes full.

About the Writing Coach:  Ingrid Ricks is an author, book coach and inspirational speaker who leverages the power of personal storytelling to foster healing, awareness, empathy and change. Her memoirs include The New York Times bestseller Hippie Boy and Focus, a memoir about her journey with the blinding eye disease Retinitis Pigmentosa. She has also produced eight anthologies in partnership with high schools and NGOs, and has ghostwritten several memoirs.
